Encounters
I was standing at the Kobenhavn H train station trying to buy a ticket from a touch-screen kiosk for a trip to the airport. I kept mashing the buttons on the screen, but no matter my force, the buttons would not respond. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. As I peered at nearby kiosks, other passengers seemed to have no problem with the screen. Luckily for me, a Dane saw my frustration and offered to help. He told me that the screen gets worn, and to hit a button, I have to press the area of screen directly below the actual picture. It worked perfectly. I thanked him for his help. Danish hospitality, check. Later on my return trip from the airport, I had to buy a ticket at a kiosk again. This time, I was approached for help. Two ladies in front of me on line asked me (in thick German accents) to select their tickets for them. I was happy to help. A 2 hour microcosm.
